22nd to 2nd at Dirt Million

mansfield aug25Bobby put on another exciting show for his fans Saturday night in the inaugural "Dirt Million" at Mansfield (OH) Motor Speedway as he charged from his 22nd starting position to finish runner-up and earn a $40,588 payday. He was on the move from the start as he made his way up to fourth by lap 25. He battled within the top five until lap 83 when he took command and looked to be on his way to his biggest paying win until the caution flag flew on lap 89 bunching up the field. After going back green, Bobby and Pearson ran side-by-side until Bobby fell back to second on lap 92. He wasn't ready to concede the loss just yet though as he drove his heart out on the cushion trying to grab the lead back but couldn't get close enough at the finish. “That was such a fun race. … I didn’t need that last caution," Bobby said. "I don’t know how big of a lead I had. I know my dad was signaling I had a pretty big lead. I guess Earl (Pearson) came in and put some new tires on and it definitely showed to work pretty good there, because I was kind of hanging on. It’s a big money difference, but still $40,000, I’ll take it.” -- Heath Lawson Photo
