Third at Brown County

brown county jul17Building up a lead of almost four seconds, Bobby looked to be on his way to his third Lucas Oil Series victory Tuesday night at Brown County (SD) Speedway, until the race's first caution was shown on lap 34 which erased the advantage. On the restart, Bobby lost the lead for a lap but grabbed it back a lap later and he stayed out front for the next six laps until a wild side-by-side battle with Pearson would ensue in the final ten laps with Bobby running the top side and Pearson on the bottom. With two laps to go, Bobby slipped off the top edge of the track as he entered turn one, and as a result, would have to settle for a third place finish on this night. “The car was good up top and I just stayed there," Bobby said. "Then we had the restart and Pearson got underneath me and we had a real good race for the lead. I just slipped off the track. I had a stuck throttle from about lap four on. Then the last lap it just about died. I slowed way down. I am not sure, it was something in the motor, but it ran flawless all night until then." -- CRP Photo
