$20,000 Labor Day Duel WoO Winner at Deer Creek!

deercreek sep2 1Taking the lead on the second lap from the pole, Bobby held on late after his brakes failed to collect his 11th series win of the season in the 50-lap Labor Day Duel World of Outlaws Series race Saturday night at Deer Creek (MN) Speedway. He held a comfortable lead early as he sliced through heavy traffic in the caution-free race. With 15 laps to go, he lost his brakes. “Going off into the corner, you don’t know if it is going to steer,” Bobby said. “Especially if I was running the top like that. You use so much brake around the corner with these cars, you’re pedaling. It helps the car turn. It helps the car slow down. It just does a lot of stuff. So, no brakes is like driving with a blindfold. It was tough.” As a result, he had to abandon the top side of the track and move to the bottom. Shortly thereafter, the track took rubber which allowed Bobby to stay out front and hold on for the win. “I got really lucky that (the surface) took some rubber at the very end because I wouldn’t have been able to keep ‘er (running) on the top like that,” Bobby said. “I gotta give a huge shout out to this team. We’ve faced a lot of adversity through the year, especially a lot of these World of Outlaws nights, and somehow, we manage to still finish up front a lot of nights. So, thanks to them guys for their hard work. I’m still in shock how the years went so far. It’s been my best year by far really. But we stay motivated, we treat every day like it’s a new day. I wanna win ‘em all, I get greedy sometimes, but it’s been an awesome year.” Bobby’s points lead increased to 138 with nine series races to go.
